The immense importance of the Hadith literature in Islamic Shariah is undeniable. It is preserved through the immense sacrifice of the Muhaddiths. A group of great scholars of the Ummah have dedicated themselves to the preservation of hadith. From the times of the Prophet (PBUH) to the present era, numerous books have been written and compiled for the preservation of Hadith and Sunnah. Shaykhul Hadith Abdul Ghani Maqdisi (R.A.) is one of those authors who is remembered in the history of Islamic knowledge. He spent his entire life in pursuit of knowledge of Hadith literature. His compiled book, “Umadatul Ahkam,” is an invaluable addition to the Hadith literature. This book has gained enormous popularity all over the Muslim world among Muslim scholars. In this article, an attempt has been made to present a scholarly review of Shaykh Abdul Ghani Maqdisi‟s notable achievement in the compilation of „Umdatul Ahkam‟, followed by a discussion on his illustrious biography.
